Curator Agreement

Last updated: May 12, 2026

1. Agreement to Curator Terms

This Curator Agreement (“Agreement”) governs your participation in the MapStack Curator Program (the “Program”). It is a supplement to MapStack's general Terms of Service and Privacy Policy and applies only to users who have been invited to and have accepted membership in the Program.

2. About the Program

The Curator Program is an invite-only initiative through which MapStack recognizes high-quality contributors with a “Super Stacker” badge on their lists, expanded analytics, and (at Tier 2) a share of revenue from sponsored placements that fall within the curator's assigned geographic and topical scope.

Curators are independent contractors. Nothing in this Agreement creates an employment, agency, joint-venture, or partnership relationship between you and MapStack.

3. Tiers and Scope

  • Tier 1. Visible Super Stacker badge on your lists, expanded curator analytics, and featured-list selection.
  • Tier 2. All Tier 1 benefits plus eligibility to receive payouts from the sponsored-placement revenue pool described in Section 4.
  • Scope. When you accept your invitation, MapStack assigns you one or more scope cities and scope tags. Sponsored placements are matched to curators whose scope overlaps with the placement's targeting. Scope can be edited by MapStack staff at any time and will be reflected on your Curator Management page.
  • Tier changes. MapStack may promote or demote your tier based on activity, content quality, or program needs. We will notify you by email when your tier changes.

4. Revenue Share and Payouts

  • Tier 2 curators receive a share of the net revenue MapStack collects from sponsored placements that fall within their scope. “Net revenue” is gross sponsor billings minus Stripe processing fees.
  • Pool size. MapStack allocates 60% of the net revenue from each matched placement to the curator pool for that placement. MapStack may adjust this percentage prospectively; the rate in effect at the time a period closes governs that period's allocations.
  • Per-curator share. Each matched curator receives an equal share of the placement pool, rounded down to the nearest cent. Any rounding remainder is retained by MapStack as “stranded” revenue.
  • Billing periods. Periods run monthly (UTC). After each period closes, MapStack computes per-curator allocations, generates a payment run, and reviews it for anomalies (e.g. unusually large amounts, missing Stripe Connect verification).
  • Release. Once a payment run is approved by MapStack, payouts are issued by Stripe transfer to your connected bank account. If your Stripe Connect account is not in a verified state at release time, that payment will be marked failed and is recoverable after you complete onboarding (see Section 5).
  • Adjustments. MapStack may, in its sole reasonable discretion, hold, adjust, or refuse a specific payment to address chargebacks, suspected fraud, sponsorship disputes, or operational errors. Every such adjustment is recorded in an audit log accessible to you on request.

5. Stripe Connect

Payouts are processed through Stripe Connect Express. To receive payouts, you must complete Stripe's onboarding form at connect.stripe.com and accept Stripe's Connected Account Agreement.

Stripe (not MapStack) collects and stores the sensitive identity and banking information required for tax reporting and anti-money-laundering compliance. MapStack stores only your Stripe account ID, your current verification status, and the metadata of completed payouts, as described in our Privacy Policy.

6. Eligibility

  • You must be at least 18 years old.
  • You must reside in the United States. (We intend to expand to other countries in a future release.)
  • The bank account you connect must be in your legal name (if you onboard as an individual) or registered to your business entity (if you onboard as a business).
  • You may not maintain more than one curator account; multiple accounts will be merged or terminated at MapStack's discretion.
  • You must remain in good standing under MapStack's general Terms of Service and acceptable-use rules. Lists that violate those rules will not generate eligible activity.

7. Status Lifecycle

Your curator status moves through the following states:

  • Invited. You've received an invitation but have not yet accepted. No benefits or earnings yet.
  • Active. Full Program benefits. Your lists carry the Super Stacker badge.
  • At-Risk. Your recent activity has fallen below the program threshold. Benefits and badge are preserved; you have a grace period to recover your activity score.
  • Demoted. Activity remained below threshold through the grace period. Badge is removed and you are no longer eligible for payouts from new period closes. Existing unreleased payments are still owed and will be released on schedule.

The current status thresholds and grace-period length are managed operationally by MapStack and may change. You can see your current activity score and threshold on your Curator Management page (and in the at-risk warning email, if applicable).

8. Taxes

You are responsible for the tax consequences of any payments you receive. Stripe issues IRS Form 1099-K to U.S.-based curators each calendar year when the IRS threshold is met; MapStack does not separately file 1099 forms for curators. You are responsible for keeping your tax information current with Stripe.

9. Cancellation and Removal

  • By you. You may leave the Program at any time by emailing info@mapstackapp.com. Any unreleased payments you've already earned will be released on the next scheduled run, provided your Stripe Connect account remains verified.
  • By MapStack. MapStack may remove you from the Program for any reason, including violation of the general Terms of Service, suspected fraud, or operational changes to the Program. Earned but unreleased payments at the time of removal will be released unless they are tied to the underlying violation.
  • Program changes. MapStack may modify or discontinue the Program (in whole or in part) at any time. We will provide reasonable advance notice of material changes that affect compensation or eligibility.

10. Acceptable Conduct as a Curator

You agree that your lists and curator activity will not:

  • Promote illegal products, services, or activities
  • Mislead users or misrepresent places
  • Infringe third-party intellectual property rights
  • Contain hate speech, harassment, or content that discriminates based on protected characteristics
  • Be designed to artificially inflate clicks, views, or engagement for personal financial gain

MapStack monitors curator activity for these behaviors and reserves the right to invalidate engagement attributable to non-compliant activity when computing payouts.

11. Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability

The Program is offered “as is.” MapStack does not guarantee any specific level of earnings, any minimum payout amount per period, or that any particular sponsored placement will fall within your scope. To the maximum extent permitted by law, MapStack's aggregate liability under this Agreement is limited to the total amount of payouts paid to you in the 12 months preceding the claim.

12. Changes to this Agreement

MapStack may update this Agreement from time to time. We will notify you by email of material changes and post the updated Agreement on this page with a revised date. Continued participation in the Program after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Agreement.
